7/8/2012 - Back To The Topaz Pilings For More

Merry and I ditched Kevin Lee and attempted to find our own nudis today. Visibility was down to 18-20 feet, but that is still good for Redondo Beach. After checking out three of the pilings we headed into the algae field to the west.
I found a turban snail with nudibranch eggs on it and gave it to Merry. She found a tiny Diaphorodoris lirulatocauda. I guess we'll never be as good as Kevin when it comes to finding something new. :(

Small red octopus are out in force right now. There seemed to be one under every piece of detritus. Sarcastic fringeheads fill every abandoned turban snail shell while juveniles hide in the algae.

I'm hoping to get my still photo gear repaired/replaced soon so I can get back to being frustrated with my photos. In the meantime, here is yet another attempt at underwater video.
